Description

The Project includes the design and construction of improvements to the existing Dadeland South Metrorail Station, including but not limited to canopies to provide better weather protection for individuals on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) platform, between the Station’s west side entrance and the Datran Center and parking garage, Metrorail platform and connecting elements between the Metrorail platform and the drop-off/pick-up area; the reconfiguration of the drop-off/pick-up area north of the station for easier vehicular and pedestrian access; the design and construction of an at-grade bike path segment to connect the County’s Underline project and the South Dade Trail (adjacent to the Transitway); improvements throughout the Station to the existing amenities such as facility technologies, barrier and security systems, bicycle amenities, lighting, landscape and hardscape elements, climate control systems, wayfinding signage, and vertical circulation elements; Metrorail guideway structural and drainage improvements; and site improvements to adjacent roadways, signalized intersections and improvements to the surface park-and-ride lot north of the station area. The Project is targeting LEED for Transit Stations "Silver"-level certification. Since the existing Dadeland South Metrorail Station is an end terminal station on the Transitway, the Project must support the Gold Standard recognition by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) for the BRT System. 12.59% SBE - A/E goal (Design portion only) 8.22% SBE - Construction goal (Construction portion only) 0.25% - SBE-Good and Services Goal The total estimated cost for this project is $41,621,778.98, inclusive of contingency allowance ($3,449,080.32), and dedicated allowances for art in public places ($458,455.91) and permit fees ($3,223,439.55).
