Description

The District of Columbia Department of General Services is issuing this Request for Proposals to solicit Design-Build proposals from offerors interested in serving as the Design-Builder for the modernization of the existing Old Miner Building in order to develop a new Childhood Education Center and Preschool facility. The Old Miner building is located on the Miner Elementary School Campus, which is located at 601 15th Street NE, Washington, DC. Project goals include the complete interior renovation of the existing Old Miner facility, a new entry vestibule, and a covered walkway that connects the Old Miner building to the main elementary school building as the base scope. The project also includes and add alternate to renovate a portion of the existing elementary school for a new infant and toddler program. The Department anticipates awarding a Design-Build contract to the Offeror whose Proposal is most advantageous to the District for all Project work, including design and construction services required for a fully modernized facility. The Project's base scope shall include the complete renovation of the existing historic building to create approximately 21,000 square feet of new early childhood learning spaces, including exterior improvements and new site programming (collectively, the "Work" or "Base Scope") to bring it in line with the District of Columbia Public Schools ("DCPS") Educational Specifications ("Ed Spec(s)") or "Education Specifications") as set forth in Attachment B. Should the add alternate for the interior renovation be selected the overall square footage shall be increased to approximately 27,000 square feet as per Attachment A. Questions due date is hereby extended to July 29, 2020, at 2:00 PM
