Description | Site work and new construction of an educational facility in South Salt Lake, Utah. Completed plans call for the construction of a 80,000-square-foot educational facility. Okland Construction Company, hereinafter referred to as "Construction Manager/General Contractor" (CMGC), has been selected by DFCM of the State of Utah, hereinafter referred to as "Owner", to be the CMGC for the following project, Huntsman Mental Health Institute Crisis Care Center hereinafter referred to as the "Project". The University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) Receiving Center will be an important next step in providing mental and behavioral health support in the State of Utah. It will provide accessible services for individuals to stabilize and de-escalate during a mental health crisis, as well as a bridge to the community and mental health system for recovery. The proposed project will provide a 80,000 sq. ft. University of Utah Health owned facility, that will provide crisis mental health services in an appropriate setting, and as an alternative to emergency department care. The project scope will consist of a licensed "I-2" hospital occupancy building to include a 30-chair receiving center, a 24-bed acute stabilization unit, mobile outreach team space, administration and staff support, and pharmacy and lab services. It will be located on a nine-acre parcel at 3300 South, between 900 West and 1000 West. Given the schedule, complexity and quality expectations of the project, the project team desires to engage with a number of Design/Assist Subcontractors including Mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing), and Electrical. The Owner of this project along with FFKR Architects and Okland Construction, have begun planning and design for this new facility. Project work includes the following: - New site and utility work to feed and support new building. - Construction of new 3-Level Crisis Care Center It is expected that the Design Assist Subcontractor will provide comprehensive construction and administrative services to successfully meet the needs of the project and initiatives of the U of U and HMHI leadership groups.
