Description | The Contractor shall, after mobilization and set-up, drill and install four (4) groundwater monitoring wells using truck-mounted, air rotary drilling equipment. The Contractor will be a Pennsylvania Licensed Water Well Driller, have at least 15 years of experience drilling and installing groundwater monitoring wells (the drilling crew must have a minimum of three years experience in groundwater monitoring well drilling and installation using the selected technique), and will furnish all equipment, tools, labor, materials, and supplies necessary to perform the project. The wells shall be drilled at the locations identified on Contract Drawing, Figure-2. An Engineer/Professional Geologist, contracted separately by the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, shall observe and log (e.g., lithology and geology) the drilling and construction of the groundwater monitoring wells during the projects entirety. The groundwater monitoring wells shall be constructed of two-inch diameter PVC slotted well screen and solid riser pipe to a maximum depth of approximately 100 feet. The screened interval in each well shall be based upon actual subsurface conditions identified in the field. The wells shall be generally screened in 10-foot intervals corresponding with the depth of first water encountered, and screened across this interval for future groundwater level and sampling purposes. The drilling rig shall be steam cleaned between locations, and associated equipment decontaminated between locations; all shall be performed on a decontamination pad provided and constructed by the Contractor. All wells shall be completed with protective steel stick-up casing that extends to the bedrock surface (approximately 55 feet total including stick-up), locking caps and concrete pads. Drill cuttings shall be placed in Contractor provided 55-gallon drums and staged at the neighboring airport Tape Works Facility. Characterization and disposal will be contracted separately by the Engineer/Professional Geologist and the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. The wells will be developed by surging and over-pumping by the Contractor using a Grundfos pump. Purged groundwater generated during well development will be containerized in metal 55-gallon drums and staged at the Tape Works. All waste characterization and disposal will be contracted separately by the Engineer/Professional Geologist and the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. The Contractor shall provide for cleanup and demobilization from the site. | ||||||||||||
