Description

This project involves the stabilization and establishment of grade control on Fuller Hollow Creek in the vicinity of Lehigh Avenue and Murray Hill Road in Vestal, NY. Fuller Hollow Creek is highly entrenched and active bank failures are present along both banks. The site is susceptible to significant erosion and incision due to physical and geologic conditions. Impacts from Tropical Storm Irene and Lee included loss and damage of homes and businesses, loss and damage of utility infrastructure, road closures and washouts, and stream bank erosion. This project will establish grade control and stabilize banks which will be achieved through construction of a roughened channel and regrading banks to more stable angles, which will protect private property. The specific objectives of the project include: Reduce erosion and sediment contribution to downstream reaches Establish grade control and slowing rates of incision; Stabilize stream banks; and Protect private property within the project reach
