A/E Services For Replace Chiller in The Forensic Treatment Complex

Elgin Mental Health Center is a 33-building facility and the Forensic Treatment Complex (BR121) is a 140,000 SF, 2-story building. The scope of work provides for replacing an existing steam absorption chiller with an electric centrifugal chiller, as well as the associated cooling tower, pumps, controls, electrical feeds, clean and refill the existing chilled water loop with a propylene glycol solution and any other related work required to bring the system into compliance with current applicable standards. The A/E will provide load calculations, energy analysis, reviews of existing system configuration, connected equipment and load and provide recommendations and design of various upgrades to provide redundant and reliable cooling for this essential facility. Temporary cooling may be required if the work cannot be completed before the 2021 cooling season. The A/E will need to determine if any components of this project are eligible for a utility company or other energy grant/rebate and will be responsible for preparing and submitting the grant application if the project qualifies for the rebate.
