Description | Boiler Plan 7CC is the main steam generating plant for steam distribution for facilities heating in the Coddington Point (CP) and Coddington Cove (CC) areas of Naval Station Newport and Naval Undersea Warfare Center. The boiler plant itself is located in Coddington Cove. The scope of work includes the replacement in kind of the boiler feed water piping, from the pumps, to points of connection at each boiler, as defined on the drawings. The intent is to reuse existing hanger attachments to the structure. There are three options identified as part of this project. Replacement of a hot-well in the basement, removal of pair of abandoned 6" Boiler Feed Water (BFW) pipes in the Boiler 3 room, and removal of an abandoned 6" BFW on the south side mezzanine level. The existing 4" boiler feed water (BFW) lines (2) including Insulation and corrugated jacket from the Main Boiler room, across the trestle, to the Boiler #4 room, will be removed and replaced with new Boiler Feed Water lines and insulation as noted on the drawings. Each 4" BFW line has an associated ¾" Low Pressure Steam (LPS) line (for freeze protection) which shall remain throughout construction. A 6` section of each of the ¾" LPS shall be removed at each wall penetration, and replaced in like kind. Existing anchor points for the BFW line will remain and be protected throughout construction. Existing hangers and supports on the exterior trestle are to be reused. Provide temporary support of LPS lines during construction. Provide new pipe sleeves and flashing at each wall penetration. |
