Remove and replace broken bricks within the areas noted. Bidders are advised that the wall is a bonded wall, and that there is no cavity behind the outer wythe of brick. Repairs to the backup behind the outer wythe are not to be carried in the bid amount, but contractors shall exercise care when removing the outer brick, to not damage the inner wythe of bricks. • Install new bricks where existing bricks are totally missing. • Cut/rake and repoint mortar where damaged, within the areas indicated. Prioritize missing and loose mortar over cracked mortar, and prioritize open cracks over hairline cracks. Identify where the repair quantity specified will be used for the Owner/Architect’s approval, prior to the start of repair. • Replace existing mortar joints with soft joints at the jambs of the garage doors. • Wash down of new masonry (full washing of the building is not included in the scope).
