Fire Protection Systems

The SSA has a requirement for a qualified Contractor to provide Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) for Specialized Fire Protection Systems that protect mission-critical operations at the SSA’s Headquarters Complex in Woodlawn, Maryland. Such systems include Dry Pipe and Preaction Sprinkler Systems, Standpipe systems, Fire Pumps, FM-200 Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems, Aspirating Smoke Detection, Beam Detection, Kitchen Hood Fire Extinguishing Systems, Mass Notification/High Powered Speaker Arrays, Fire Area of Refuge Two-Way Communication Systems and other similar systems that are not part of the base building fire alarm or fire sprinkler systems. All services shall be performed in accordance with National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) codes and standards, the relevant fire protection equipment manufacturer’s instructions, and the ITM scope shall be limited to the schedule provided in the statement of work (SOW). The ITM work shall be done by a qualified team who is appropriately National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certified; with appropriately certified Supervisor and a Project Manager that is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer. Most ITM work will need to be done after hours, with limited exceptions as provided in the SOW. In addition to the actual ITM work, this scope includes monthly and annual ITM reports to be provided in the SSA-specified format. This scope also includes provisions for limited emergency service calls and repairs.
