Description | The trailer attenuator system shall be designed and constructed as a single-point hook-up to the rear of medium and heavy duty frame trucks having a minimum 12,000 GVW or greater. The trailer attenuator, when properly attached to a truck, of the minimum test weight or greater, shall provide a safety crash cushion between approaching vehicular traffic and highway work crews or equipment at a work site. Each unit shall be new and of a model in current production or an update of an existing model. Each unit shall be furnished with identical equipment, options, and features, and shall be complete in all details including attaching brackets and support structure. The trailer attenuator shall be 2016 Edition of Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware TL-3 (MASH TL-3) compliant. Units supplied to this specification shall meet or exceed these requirements. |
