Description

This project consists of street repairs at various locations in town. This consists of approximately 5,856 tons of HMA pavement, 6,974 tons of granular subbase, pavement removal, geogrid, manhole adjustment,\ valve box adjustment and other related work to complete this project. This work is shown in detail on the construction plans on file with the city clerk. Funding for the project is by cash on hand from the City's budget and possibly bonds as may be required. There are no State or Federal monies or grant funds involved. There are no MBE, WBE or SBE requirements. Davis-Bacon provisions do not apply. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities and technicalities. The Council reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for a period not to exceed forty (40) calendar days after the date bids are to be received. If awarded, one (1) contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible, responsive bidder based on the amount of work and type of materials selected by the City for Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, or any combination thereof. Time is of the essence for this project. Therefore, liquidated damages in the amount of $500 per calendar day will be assessed for each day that work remains substantially uncompleted for the entire project after the deadline set below. Contractor may begin work within ten days of the Owner's Notice to Proceed, and all work within the Right of Way shall proceed continuously until completed. Work for Division 1 must be completed by August 1, 2023 and Work for Divisions 2 and 3 must be completed by October 1, 2023. The successful bidder shall furnish a Performance Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment for all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor. In addition, the bond shall guarantee against defects in materials or workmanship for a period of two years after completion and acceptance by the City.
