Construction of the Walker Branch Greenway (South Tryon to Smith Road)

The project includes 3,645 LF (0.7 miles) of new greenway construction, including one neighborhood connection and the regrading and paving of the existing Rivergate Parkway greenway connection. The proposed greenway will be an extension of the existing Walker Branch Greenway and will construct a 12-foot-wide greenway for 0.7 miles along Walker Branch Creek and end at Smith Road. The project will include a new 75 -foot-long pre-fabricated, 12-foot-wide bridge. A 165 LF 8-foot-wide connection will be built on an existing Greenway easement connecting Walker Creek Drive to the new greenway. Two overlooks as well as a small connection to the Steel Creek Athletic Association Field will also be constructed. The remaining portion of the existing Walker Branch Greenway that runs alongside the Parkway Shopping center starting at South Tryon Street will be resurfaced.
