Description | The project consist of three Base Bids as follows: BASE BID I Penguin Exhibit Scope of work Scope of Work includes select demolition, infilling, and regrading of existing exhibits. Construction of new Penguin Exhibit and Life Support System. The design includes chilled fresh water systems for main pool, quarantine pool, and holding pool; acrylic viewing panels, rocky beach area with a peninsula that includes an underwater swim through area, nesting boxes, back of house area that includes office, quarantine pool, nursery pool, wet and dry storage, restroom, kitchen, and penguin holding. The area will also include construction of a penguin encounter area with seating and wash down area for guests. Life support building will include filtration and ozone system and a chiller for the exhibit water. Construction also includes bleachers and shade canopies for guests, and shade for the exhibit. New landscaping will be installed along with protection of existing trees and plants. Installation of electrical, hvac, mechanical, and IT systems also included in project. Contractor will need to work closely with zoo staff, architect, city arborist, zoological society, and always have zoo animals’ quality of life as a priority during the project. BASE BID II SAP Restrooms Scope of Work Scope of Work includes new restrooms for men/women/family. A separate nursing room will be attached to the facilities. Facilities will be air-conditioned spaces and will be constructed right next to the South American Pavilion (SAP) Exhibit. All projects will include all necessary mobilization, demobilization, traffic control measures with approval from all necessary departments, storm-water best management practices and cleanup after inlet remediation. The project shall comply with all applicable City codes and Ordinances and Capital Improvement Department Guidelines. Prior to commencement of any work, the Contractor shall submit and obtain approval from City of El Paso, Capital Improvement Department, for the Sequence of Construction, Schedule of Work, and Haul/Waste Route to an approved disposal site. Traffic Control Plan must be submitted and approved, if applicable. Contractor shall provide written approved documentation from the owner or operator of the waste site. |
