Description

The Township of South Orange Village (Village) seeks to engage a qualified firm to perform video inspections and provide corresponding inspection reports for three (3) separate areas of the Village which exhibit flash flooding conditions in heavy rainfall events. The objective is to find if there are any sections of damaged storm drain infrastructure that are causing and/or exacerbating flash flooding conditions. The three areas are as follows: University Ct. and Elm Ct. Intersection. The system in this intersection directs runoff generally westerly to a tributary of the East Branch of the Raritan River. It travels through private properties, across Fielding Ct. and Park Pl., through Grove Park, to an eventual tributary outfall on Grove Road. The mainline of the system consists of approximately 1,500 linear feet of pipe. Through Grove Park the system has an interconnected parallel mainline pipe of approximately 400 linear feet. The combined 1,900 linear feet of mainline includes, based on available mapping, 15 manholes and 13 basins which can be used for access points. Glenview Rd. and Overhill Rd. Intersection. The system in this intersection directs runoff generally westerly through private properties fronting on Glenview Rd. into an outfall adjacent to County parkland. The system has flash flooding conditions at the intersection and also upstream along the section of 2,100 linear feet mainline pipe that runs from the outfall to the intersection, across Allen Ct., and then behind homes on Whiteoak Dr. to Hoskier Dr. There is also a parallel interconnected mainline pipe that runs behind homes on Whiteoak Dr. to Hoskier Dr. (1,300 linear feet), and an additional interconnected section of mainline pipe on Glenview Rd. between Overhill Rd. and Allen Ct. (400 linear feet). The combined 3,800 linear feet of mainline includes, based on available mapping, 15 manholes and 16 basins which can be used for access points. Village Rd. and West Fairview Ave. Intersection. The system in this intersection directs runoff generally westerly to a tributary of the East Branch of the Raritan River. It travels through private properties, across Montague Pl., Tichenor Ave., Prospect St., parallel to Roland Ave., across Academy St., and Valley St. to an eventual outfall adjacent to the Stop & Shop parking lot and railroad tracks. The main line of the system consists of approximately 1 mile of pipe and includes, based on available mapping, 19 manholes and 1 basins which can be used for access points.
