Description

Throughout all SKPS buildings, materials known or assumed to contain asbestos are regulated by OSHA. Materials known or assumed to contain >1% asbestos are further regulated by AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) and defined as an "asbestos-containing material." The presence of materials known or assumed to contain asbestos is documented in the AHERA Management Plan for each building. Copies of the AHERA Management Plan are available in the main office of each building and in SKPS's Facilities office at 3630 State Street, Salem Oregon 97301. SKPS's AHERA Designated Person or AHERA Program Coordinator must be informed of the Contractor's planned activities in any building prior to the start of work. SKPS must inform the Contractor how to use the AHERA Management Plan and determine if any materials known or assumed to contain asbestos may be disturbed by the Contractor's work. The Contractor is responsible for notifying their employees and subcontractors of the presence of asbestos in the building. If the Contractor discovers material suspected to contain asbestos which has not been identified, they must stop work and immediately notify SKPS's AHERA Designated Person or assigned representative so the material can be properly addressed. If the Contractor disturbs material that contains asbestos and is outside the contracted scope of work, they will be responsible for the cost of the regulated decontamination and disposal. The Project consists of cleaning and completely sealing existing standing seam roofing, removal & replacement of existing rooftop equipment, vents etc., installation of roof hugger system over existing metal roof to allow for installation of new standing seam metal roofing over the existing metal roofing. Work includes new flashings and gutters as well as weathertight covering of existing unused vents as shown on Contract Documents prepared by Paul L. Bentley Architect, A.I.A. P.C., dated January 2023. Work also includes miscellaneous flashings and other miscellaneous sheet metal work as required and shall be included. The Contractor shall provide all carpentry for curbs, & any other carpentry required by the work, and shall provide all electrical work as required for extending any equipment up onto new roofing
