Falls Lake Dam, Vertical Lift Gate - Hydraulic Steel Structure Fabrication

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District, is conducting research to determine the market capabilities of potential contractors to fabricate, assemble, paint, and deliver two hydraulic steel structures. The work will primarily consist of two tasks: 1) fabricating and assembling gate structures; 2) shipment to the project. All work will be performed in accordance with the contract drawings and specifications. Work also involves preparing final “As-Built” documents. Falls Lake Dam emergency gate is a hydraulic steel structure and is classified as a vertical lift gate with dimensions 19-feet 10-inches in height and 9-feet 9-inches wide. The Falls Lake Dam service gate is a hydraulic steel structure and is classified as a vertical lift gate with dimensions 19-feet 8-inches in height and 9-feet 3-inches in width. The service gate has an attached 1-foot by 1-foot piggyback gate. The gates are constructed of structural steel members with skin plate on one side, seals and, a 45-degree bottom gate lip for hydraulic efficiency. Side and top seals are J-type rubber seals, and the bottom seals are rectangular. Six 16-inch diameter fixed wheels are mounted on cantilever axles on each side of each gate. The weight of each gate is approximately 17,000 pounds. Delivery shall be made to Falls Lake Dam located in Wake County North Carolina.
