NSAB 16 Chillers 3 Through 9

The projects key components include: ? Demolition of the existing chillers 3-9, the associated piping and valves, and their dedicated primary pumps. ? Replacement of chillers 3 through 9 with 1500 ton centrifugal chillers utilizing eitherR-513A, R-514A or R-1233zd refrigerant ? Replacement of the 7 dedicated primary pumps (pump, motor, valves and strainer) for each of the new chillers, existing VFDs to be reused unless pump horsepower ratings change as a result of chiller selection. ? Replacement of the 4160V starters for each of the 7 chillers with solid state starters. ? Full depth repair of approximately 680 square feet of concrete slab in area A (in the vicinity of chillers 1a-6). ? Patching of slab soffit and concrete wall in area B (in the vicinity of chillers 7- 9). ? Replacement of the existing refrigerant monitoring systems with a new system capable of monitoring levels of R-123 and R-134a for the existing chillers as well as R-513A, R-514Aand R- 1233zd depending on the new chillers provided. ? Integrating the new chillers and control devices with the current Trane Tracer Controls system. ? Critical sequencing of construction as there must be enough chillers in service to meet the cooling demand at all times. ? Construction sequencing so that either chiller 7 or 8 and its primary pump is always available to run in order to maintain a chiller and its primary pump on the emergency generator circuit.
