Description

This project entails removal and proper disposal of the existing fire station windows/storefront style areas and replacement of said windows/storefronts in accordance with the information and specifications provided by the City of Raleigh. Please note that this work does not include any change or modification of the two large roll-up overhead doors accessing the apparatus bay. The replacement work shall include all necessary interior and exterior repairs needed to make the replacement windows and fenestrations fit properly, weather tight and finished in appearance. Following installation of the windows, all glass areas will have both interior and exterior safety film applied as directed by the documents provided by the City. All materials and equipment necessary to complete this project are to be supplied by the successful bidder or listed subcontractors. Note that no drawing indicating the current window/storefront sizes or specifications are available. It will be the responsibility of the bidder to obtain all measurements and information necessary to prepare an appropriate bid. No additional funding will be provided for window or storefront components which do not fit correctly. Note: this project will require submittal of the proposed replacement windows/storefronts and related information at the time of bid submittal. Additional details regarding the window/storefront requirements may be found in the bidding documents. Bidders will be required to show evidence that they are licensed to perform the work in the Bidding Documents as required by North Carolina General Statute, Chapter 87 and the Instruction to Bidders. Bid Security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the Bid must accompany each Bid and shall be subject to the conditions provided in the Instruction to Bidders. Additional Bonding requirement for this project will be addressed at the pre-bid meeting. The successful proposer(s) must be registered to do work with the City of Raleigh. This is a simple process involving accessing the City of Raleigh website and completing an on-line form. Any vendor or entity interested in performing work for the City of Raleigh is encouraged to complete this process. Below is a link to the City's self-service vendor portal. Here you will be able to register your business with the City of Raleigh as an approved vendor. Pursuant to General Statutes of North Carolina Sections 143-128.2 and 143-131, and in accordance with City policy, the City of Raleigh encourages and provides equal opportunity for certified Minority and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) businesses to participate in all aspects of the City's contracting and procurement programs to include Professional Services; Goods and Other Services; and Construction. The prime contractor will be required to identify participation of MWBE businesses in their Bid, and how that participation will be achieved. Furthermore, the City's goal is to contract or sub-contract fifteen percent (15%) of the contract amount to certified MWBEs on construction projects over $300,000, or with contracts that include $100,000 or more in state funding. The design of this project was completed by the owner's in-house design professional.
