Cedar Lane Reconstruction - Village Of Northbrook

As of July 12, 2022, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. A firm timeline for bidding and construction has not been determined. The surface layer of pavement on Cedar Lane and Walters Avenue needs to be replaced. Since it was last repaved in 1999, the roadway has begun to exhibit a number of faults and is rated as having limited failures. Roadways rated as having limited failures (3 on a scale of 5) exhibit signs of road surface cracking and have small potholes beginning to form. Examples of these failures include horizontal and longitudinal road surface cracking. In 2021, the Village hired a design consultant to complete Phase II engineering for the reconstruction of Cedar Lane including a new roadway surface and various improvements to the streetscape and parking configuration that improve traffic conditions for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. The Village held Public Information meetings and provided an update to the Village Board who directed staff to look at alternative options. Staff continues to work with the consultant on alternative options. Additional public input and final Board direction will be needed before project schedule and costs are finalized. This project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and funding allotted for 2022/2023. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
