Description

All inquiries for information should be directed to: Tim Pollock, Director of Maintenance, (804) 641-1759 or tpollock@nkcps.k12.va.us and must be received no later than 3:00 p.m., June 10, 2022. The New Kent County School Board ("the Board") reserves the right to reject any proposal (or any part thereof) and to waive any informalities or irregularities when the School Board, in its sole discretion, deems it to be in the best interests of the school division. SCOPE OF WORK 1. The purpose of this IFB is to solicit competitive sealed bids from responsible bidders for grounds maintenance throughout the division and in accordance with the details herein. 2. There are to be 32 cuts, performed on a yearly contract basis, of the common grounds of all five New Kent County Public Schools and the Transportation Department for the duration of the contract. The time frames of the cuts are 17 cuts July 1, 2022 through October 31, 2022 and 15 cuts March 14, 2023 through June 30, 2023, for a total of 32 cuts. 3. Attachment B details three aerial views of all properties included in this IFB. a. All blue outlines are the locations of New Kent High School, the Transportation Department, New Kent Middle School, and New Kent Elementary School - areas outlined in red are not included in the scope of work b. The blue outline is the entire grounds of George Watkins Elementary School c. The blue outline is the entire grounds of Quinton Elementary School 4. During the contract period, all sidewalks, fence lines, playground equipment areas, shrub/flower beds and around all buildings are to be weeded and treated for weed control. Sidewalks are to be edged. This includes areas indicated around the Athletic Facilities at the High School as well. 5. The Successful Bidder(s) shall render services under the contract to be awarded pursuant to this IFB as an independent Contractor, and nothing herein shall be construed as placing any employees of the Successful Bidder(s) in the category of either a classified or other type of employee of NKCPS. 6. The Successful Bidder(s) shall be granted access to the areas designated by the NKCPS Director of Maintenance or his/her designee. The successful bidder shall always keep the premises free from accumulation of waste materials or rubbish. All materials must be removed daily. At the completion of the work, the Contractor shall remove all waste materials and rubbish from and about the site as well as all tools, equipment, and surplus materials. 7. The Successful Bidder(s) shall provide all services under the direction of NKCPS and its Director of Maintenance or his/her designee. 8. Successful Bidder(s) and their employees shall park motor vehicles only in a place or places designated and/or approved by the Director of Maintenance or his/her designee. 9. The Successful Bidder(s) shall require their employees to dress appropriately (in uniforms if part of successful Bidder's normal dress code) when on NKCPS premises. All employees of the Successful Bidder(s) must conduct themselves at all times in a courteous manner, so as not to create a disturbance or distraction at any facility. 10. The Successful Bidder(s) must be willing to comply with NKCPS' Standard Terms and Conditions.
