Anna Gimmestad Park Playground

Location United States, Colorado, Weld County Question Acceptance Deadline 11/18/2022 04:00 PM EST Questions are submitted online No The playground at Anna Gimmestad Park is being updated to better serve the needs of the surrounding neighborhood. The primary goal of this project is to remove the existing play equipment and safety surfacing and add a new playground within the existing footprint. Public engagement has indicated that nearby residents are most interested in a post and platform style play system with opportunities for climbing (Figure 1). In an open-ended survey question residents were asked what additional amenities or equipment offerings they would like to see in the new playground. Those responses are ranked in Figure 2. There was also an outreach event with approximately 60 kids from the Fun in the Sun program Kids were asked to vote on their favorite playground amenities using dot stickers on four boards showing many different styles of playgrounds with various features. Voting results and conversations from from this event supported the results from the online neighborhood survey results shown in Figures 1 and 2. It is worth noting that the children specifically requested tall slides and enough swings for the large number of kids that attend the afterschool program.
