Description

Tree Pruning and Walkway Repairs - Location- 13 Canal St Cumberland, MD 21502 - The successful contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, tools, materials and supplies required for the brick and concrete repair of walkways/ boundaries damaged by tree roots. Work will include the pruning of tree roots that have impacted walkways around the Parking Lots and Train Station at Canal Place. Bids for this project will be accepted solely through the use of eMMA. To register for eMMA, all interested parties should contact at emma.maryland.gov The Project Cost Classification for this solicitation is: Small Procurement Category III, under $100,000 Minority Business Enterprises are encouraged to respond to this Solicitation Procurement Source Selection: Competitive Sealed Bids under COMAR 21.05.02 (Contract shall be awarded to the Responsive and Responsible Bidder who submits the Lowest Bid Price) NOTE: Bidders should NOT provide any comments in the comments box for each line item. If comments are provided, the bid will be determined to be non-responsive and that firm's bid will be rejected. Questions or comments should be submitted to the Project Manager prior to the bid opening. Bid prices are irrevocable for a period of 120 days following bid opening. After opening bids, the Procurement Officer may request bidders to extend the time during which the State may accept their bids, provided that, with regard to bids, no other change is permitted. FORMS AND ATTACHMENTS: For this solicitation, the following forms must be submitted with the bid: 1) Bid Proposal Affidavit -- in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders for Construction Projects, Item 2.B.(6) (2) SBR Contract Affidavit ALL forms required to be submitted prior to the deadline for receipt of bids must be received by the Department of General Services prior to the deadline for receipt of bids stated in this Solicitation Fact Sheet, or as may be amended. The work shall be completed within 120 calendar days from the start date of the contract. If the work is not completed within the time period specified, the contractor will be liable for liquated damages of $250.00 per calendar day as specified in the "General Conditions". The deadline for questions has been established as 4/18/23 at 3:00 p.m., to assure that there is enough time to allow the A/E to provide responses and Addendum issuance if necessary. Pruning of tree roots. a. To insure the safety of the trees, the Contractor will need to hire an Arborist. The Arborist is to inspect and report on the allowable root removal for each individual tree in which the walkway/ border is being repaired. 2. Repair of brick borders/ walkways around train station. New brick to match. a. Repair/ replace brick that has been damaged/ disrupted by tree roots or by other means. b. Replace missing brick in walkways. c. Contractor to fill base area around the tree with #57 grey stone for finished product. 3. Repair of brick and concrete borders/ walkways around Parking Lots. New brick to match. a. Repair concrete curbing and sidewalk that has been damaged by tree roots or other means. b. Repair/ replace brick that has been damaged/ disrupted by tree roots or by other means. c. Replace missing brick in walkways. d. Contractor to fill base area around the tree with #57 grey stone for finished product. 4. Repair areas around utilities/ fixtures that have been impacted by tree roots or other means. a. Goal is to remove all tripping hazards around areas that is accessed by the public and be aesthetically pleasing upon completion. 5. It will be the Contractor's responsibility to field-verify all existing conditions and dimensions prior to submitting bid proposal and ordering materials. 6. It is strongly encouraged that Contractors visit the site to ensure details for effective bidding. 7. Any damage to work already in place shall be repaired to original condition at the Contractor's expense. 8. All work shall be accomplished within one hundred and twenty (120) calendar days from the date designated by the notice to proceed. Liquidated damages in the amount of $250 per day apply to this contract.
