Description

As of May 1,2023, project was awarded to Vanderpool Construction but awarded amount not available. U-STEP: UST-005-3(072)--4A-63 W. Pleasant Street & IA Hwy 5 Improvements Project includes construction of northbound and southbound offset right turn lanes and offset left turn lanes at the intersection of Highway 5 and W Pleasant Street. It also includes widening the east leg of W Pleasant Street from a 2-lane to urban roadway a 3-lane urban roadway at the approach to Highway 5, paving approximately 600 feet of the west leg of W Pleasant Street with a 3-lane urban roadway, and paving approximately 600 feet of a 2-lane urban roadway of an unnamed street. The project also consists of a pump station located in the northwest quadrant of W Pleasant Street and Highway 5. The construction improvements include approximately 6,500 SY of 8" PCC street pavement, 6,300 SY of 10" PCC street pavement, 5,000 LF of sanitary sewer, 1,200 LF of storm sewer, 2,600 LF of water main, 32,000 CY of class 10 excavation, subgrade preparation, modified subbase, and subdrain. Other associated improvements include traffic control, signing, pavement marking, erosion control, surface restoration, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. completion includes having the roadway fully paved and all lanes open to traffic and all utilities installed and operational. Any delays due to weather, overruns of quantities, utility delays, or any other delays will not be considered as justification to modify the calendar date. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work by the completion date of November 17, 2023, liquidated damages of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500) per calendar day shall be applied for each calendar day after November 17, 2023, until Base Bid is substantially completed. The Contractor shall fully complete the Base Bid of the project, and if selected, Bid Alternative A within 15 working days following substantial completion and notice to proceed when weather conditions allow (permanent lawn mix can be applied between March 1 and May 31, 2024). Fully complete shall be defined as surface restoration being completed and all improvements being ready for final acceptance. Should the Contractor fail to fully complete the work within 15 working days following substantial completion, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) per calendar day shall be applied for each calendar day after the 15 working days is charged until the Base Bid and the selected Bid Alternative A are fully completed. Bid Alternative A: If awarded, the Contractor shall substantially complete Bid Alternative A by November 17, 2023. Substantial completion includes installation of all sanitary sewer and ALL lanes opened to traffic. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the work by the completion date of November 17, 2023, liquidated damages of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) per calendar day shall be applied for each calendar day after November 17, 2023, until Bid Alternative A is substantially completed. Bids will be considered by the City of Pleasantville City Council at its special council meeting at 5:30 P.M. on the 21st day of February, 2023, in said City Council Chambers. The City Council may award a Contract at said meeting, or at such other time and place as shall then be announced.
