Description | Removal, proper disposal, and replacement of the existing 100kW Emergency Generator and appurtenant equipment located at the Moonachie Avenue Pump Station on Moonachie Avenue (Block 63, Lot 1.04), Moonachie, New Jersey. The work to be performed under this contract shall include the following: The contractor shall demolish and properly dispose of the existing Emergency Power System (EPS) and its fence at the Moonachie Avenue Pump Station. Power outages during the electrical transition period shall be kept at a minimum (less than or equal to 30 minutes). In its place, the contractor shall furnish and install a new EPS. The new EPS shall consist of a new 60 kW Natural Gas Emergency Generator, Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), Manual Transfer Switch (MTS), a Roll-Up Generator Connection Box, and associated materials (conduit, wire, etc.). The contractor shall integrate this into the existing electric and gas services. Also included, is the replacement of the pump station`s exhaust fan, repair of the spalled pump station ceiling, and installation of a fluid applied roofing system as shown on the plans. The Emergency Generator and appurtenant equipment must be mounted above the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) plus freeboard; this elevation is EL 10.07 (NAVD 88). The Emergency Generator and Switching Equipment (ATS & MTS) will be mounted on a new concrete platform. This platform will include two fixed ladders and a perimeter polymer coated fabric steel chain link fence with privacy slats. Presently on site, the existing 100kW Kohler Emergency Generator is inoperable and disconnected from the existing 200A ATS. Instead, the Borough is currently renting a 100kW Temporary Generator (Roll-Up) which is connected to the existing ATS and is the station`s primary source of Emergency Power. The Contractor shall coordinate with the Borough to assume the monthly payments of the 100kW Temporary Generator rented from Kinsley Power Systems. In order to avoid the risk of being without Emergency Power, the Contractor shall install a new temporary 200A ATS. This new temporary ATS will serve as the new switching method while the existing EPS is being demolished. The Pump Station must remain in service and any down/outage times must be kept to a minimum (below 30 minutes) during any switchover process. |
