Sumter County C-478 Widening Between US 301 and SR 471

The project's limits are along County Road 478 between US 301 and SR 471. The project's scope of work consists of reconstructing a portion of the existing pavement footprint, milling and resurfacing, widening the existing substandard lane widths to 12 feet, constructing two-foot paved shoulders, regrading roadside swales to tie into natural grade, and other signage/striping improvements. Ancillary drainage improvements include desilting of existing cross drain pipes and side drain pipes as well as replacing grates on existing cross-drain mitered end sections. The project limits include a CSX railroad crossing. Coordination with CSX's contractor (who will be constructing track improvements) and adherence to the CSXT Public Project Information Manual will be required. Additionally, one of the horizontal curves within the project limits is excluded as improvements to this curve are part of a separate County project.
