Description | Elm Creek (Cen-Tex) Watershed Site 23 is a single-purpose, earthen flood prevention dam constructed in 1987 and located 12 miles east of Temple, Texas. The purpose of the proposed construction is the rehabilitation of Site 23 to mitigate identified dam safety deficiencies associated with the dam’s reclassification as a high hazard potential dam. The major components consist of the following: replace existing principal spillway inlet and conduit, installing a new 30-inch principal spillway conduit and impact basin; widen the bottom width of the existing earthen auxiliary spillway; raise the crest of the existing earthen auxiliary spillway; raise the crest of the existing embankment; remove the existing principal spillway inlet and 24” diameter conduit; and install a foundation/embankment drain system. |
