Description

Part-time Superintendent to work with City staff and provide contract services for the Wastewater Treatment System. This position requires management and oversight of the operations and maintenance of a 1.0 M.G.D. secondary wastewater treatment facility, 18 pump stations, and 24 miles of gravity sewers. This includes, but is not limited to, the submission of monthly discharge monitoring reports, managing the solids disposal program and CMOM collection system activities, CSO monitoring and reporting, industrial testing and billing, laboratory testing compliance, safety compliance, meeting with the City Manager and Council as needed, notifying MEDEP and issuing follow-up non-compliance/ discharge incident reports concerning Discharge Permit Violations, along with fiscal responsibilities of budgeting, reviewing user rates, submitting capital improvement projects, and writing annual reports. All duties performed by contract operations staff will be under the direct supervision of a State of Maine Registered Professional Engineer and/or a Maine Grade V-B Licensed Wastewater Operator and, as such, will act as the licensed operator for the Belfast Wastewater Treatment System.
