Description | Job Location 6570 Hamburg Road, Brighton MI Question Acceptance Deadline 02/28/2023 04:00 PM EST Questions are submitted online No The City of Brighton, Michigan desires to employ the services of a contractor, or contractors, for the removal and replacement of an aluminum access hatch located in the concrete floor of the Upper Gallery at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. All questions must be submitted via email (brooksc@brightoncity.org) Clarifications to bid documents shall be requested in writing via email to the Director of Public Services, Marcel Goch, at gochm@brightoncity.org. This project consists of the removal and replacement of an aluminum access hatch located in the concrete floor of the Upper Gallery at the wastewater plant. This hatch is used as an access point to remove heavy equipment and machinery from the Lower Gallery of the wastewater plant via a crane and chain fall that is located above the hatch. The existing hatch is approximately 78" long and 58" wide. Installation of a new JD-AL H2O Bilco aluminum hatch (or equivalent approved by the owner or city engineer) Size of opening is to be verified by the contractor prior to ordering the new hatch. Carefully remove existing hatch doors and frame. Remove remnant loosened concrete materials that may have occurred due to hatch frame removal using light hammer chipping or similar method. Remove loose concrete on the existing cement opening and, on the ceiling, directly under the hatch. Apply Sika restoration to all concrete surfaces that have existing cracks/damage or where damage was created from frame removal, as specified by manufacturers material handling, guidelines/ specifications. Use Sika Dur 32 HI-MOD with Sika VOH bonding agent for surface preparation. Comparable products must be approved by the owner or City engineer. Specifications and application instructions are provided with the product. Allow cure time as specified by Sika specifications. Surface preparation of existing substrate should be clean and dry. Hi-Mod is to be applied 'wet on wet' to bonding agent, but this should be verified with specifications provided by Sika. Once concrete is repaired install new retrofit hatch frame, per Bilco specifications. Additional support needs to be added under the frame on the short side of the frame, see detail attached in bid documents. Install new hatch system, per Bilco specifications. |
