Description

The project consists of the Mechanical Construction, TAB Construction, and other related Work All sealed bids in connection therewith shall be submitted to the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn-Guernsey- Malcom Community School District on or before the time herein set for letting. All proposals shall be made on official proposal forms furnished by the Architect/Engineer and must be enclosed in a separate sealed envelope and plainly identified and addressed to the Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District. If a bid is to be mailed, the bid envelope shall be sealed in a regular mailing envelope and addressed to Brad Hohensee, Brooklyn- Guernsey-Malcom Community School District, 1090 Jackson St, Brooklyn, Jowa 52211. FAX and E-mail Bids will not be accepted. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities as allowed by law and to hold and consider the bids for forty-five (45) days after the date of the bid opening. The contract will be awarded to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check or certified share draft in a separate sealed envelope, clearly marked "Bid Bond" or Bid Security", in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal. The certified or cashier's check shall be drawn on a bank in Iowa or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States of America, or the certified share draft shall be drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States and payable to the Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom. Said check or share draft may be cashed, or the bid bond forfeited as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a contract within ten (10) days of issuance of a Notice of Award and post bond The successful bidder wil] be required to furnish performance and payment bonds tn an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District, lowa, and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, the payment for labor and materials used in the project and the maintenance of said improvements in good repair for not less than one (1) year from the time of acceptance of said improvements by the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District. The Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Comminity School District of Brooklyn, lowa is exempt from paying Sales and Use Tax and will supply Contractor with an "Iowa Sales Tax Exemption Certificate" and an authorization letter to allow the Contractor to buy equipment and material for the project without paying Sales and Use tax. The 2023 work shall commence per the Bidding and Construction Schedule after receipt by the contractor of a written notice to proceed and shall be substantially completed on or before the 11" day of August 2023, except for the Unit Vents to be installed in 2024. The 2024 Unit Vent installations shall be substantially complete on or before the 9" day of August 2024, subject to any changes in the contract period as provided for in these specifications and granted by the Board of Directors. The 2023 work on shall be finally completed by the 27" of October 2023, except for the Unit Vents to be installed in 2024. The 2024 Unit Vent Work shall be finally completed by and ready for final payment, on or before the 24" of October 2024, subject to any changes in the contract period as provided for in these specifications and granted by the Board of Directors of the Brooklyn- Guernsey-Malcom Community School District.
