Renewable Natural Gas (Clean Fuel Initiative)

Project Scope: The City of Tacoma, Environmental Services Department, Solid Waste Management Division, is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to enter into a contract to provide Renewable Natural Gas to their fleet of CNG Refuse trucks and support, guidance and coordination on the Clean Fuel Standard Implementation including registration with the Washington State Department of Commerce. The City anticipates awarding a contract, to a single contractor, to provide 100% RNG to our fleet of refuse trucks over a five (5) year contract term. Annual usage of Natural Gas, for transportation purposes in refuse trucks, is currently estimated at 393,000 DGE (Diesel Gallon Equivalents) or 547,000 Therm. It is expected that the City's usage will increase between 7-10% year-over-year during the contract term as diesel refuse trucks are replaced with CNG refuse trucks. The City desires to award a contract in January 2024 with work commencing immediately upon contract execution. The contract will be for a five (5) year period with options to renew for three (3) additional five (5) year terms. The City reserves the right to cancel the contract for any reason, by written notice, as stipulated in the contract. Pre-Proposal Meeting: A pre-proposal meeting will not be held.
