Description | SDVOB: 6.00% In response to sustained and devastating flooding along the Lake Ontario shoreline, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo formed the Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI) Commission. The REDI Commission is charged with developing a regional plan to harden infrastructure across all sectors along Lake Ontario's waterfront while strengthening the region's local economies. To facilitate the immediate and long-term infrastructure resiliency needs, the REDI Commission conducted a competitive solicitation for projects to stabilize, mitigate future risks to, and enhance: the resiliency of the shoreline; critical water and wastewater infrastructure; transportation-related infrastructure; and green infrastructure. In October 2019, based on established program criteria and an evaluation by state agency experts, Governor Cuomo announced $33.6 million in new State funding to stabilize, mitigate future risks to, and enhance transportation-related infrastructure to rebuild communities along the Lake. To accelerate the implementation of these projects, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has agreed to deliver select transportation-related projects, within NYSDOT¿s statutory authority, for affected communities. This support may include procuring engineering and design consultants to expedite design; environmental reviews; and construction. The following is intended to enable project-specific dialogue between Municipal Project Sponsors and NYSDOT. The Culver Road swing bridge spans the Irondequoit Bay Outlet and connects the Town of Irondequoit and the Town of Webster. As the bridge is relatively low to the water, it is rotated out of the water during summer, when there is high boat traffic, and back into road traffic position during winter. The mechanisms that rotate the bridge are located in an open pit underneath the bridge and are subject to flooding. This project will raise the elevation of the open mechanical pit and retrofit the mechanic. |
