Description

A. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following 1. Construction of fire station. Work includes tree demolition, site work, building construction and all utility installation as shown on plans. B. Type of Contract: 1. Project will be constructed under a single prime contract. New one-story, CMU and metal truss fire station building with apparatus bay. Scorpio is soliciting bids for the Alachua County Fire Station 21. The Construction Documents are included in the documents folder. This is the prototype and is #2 out of 4 Fire Stations for which Scorpio has been selected as the CM. Scope of Work: Site Demolition, Concrete, Masonry, Steel, Casework, Thermal and Moisture Protection, Roofing, Doors, Glazing, Framing, Stucco, Flooring, Painting, Specialties, Canopies, Window Treatments, Fire Protection, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Communications, Security, Sitework, Landscaping, and Fencing. As of September 15, 2023, The A/E team has released revision 1 for the Alachua County Fire Station 21. This revision should reflect the correct vendor information for Access Controls. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to commence prior to December 2023 or January 2024. Construction is expected to take ten months. We understand Alachua County proposes to construct a fire station on the east side of CR 235A (NW 173 rd Street) near the intersection of NW 162 nd Lane. The address of the site is 15909 NW 173 rd Street, Alachua, Florida. You provided information about the project and site plans illustrating the locations of the proposed improvements. The project will include a single-story, high wall approximately 12,000 square foot building, driveways and parking areas, a turn lane, and a stormwater management facility. There is an existing single story brick residence located on the property within the proposed building footprint. Parking and stormwater management will be located east of the proposed building. We understand that the County is also considering adding a turn lane along CR 235A. We have included auger borings along the CR 235A corridor for a turn lane roadway soil survey. The roadway soil survey report is issued under separate cover. We anticipate the structure will be either concrete masonry unit or tilt-up concrete construction. Anticipated structural loads are 4 to 5 kips per foot for load bearing walls, and less than 60 kips for columns. The finished floor of the structure is anticipated to be constructed near existing site grades. The site slopes down from the northeast to the southwest with site grades from the provided topographic map on the order of 115 to 125 feet. Some cut and fill will likely be required to raise and level the building pad. A recent aerial photograph of the site was obtained. The site plan and aerial photograph were used in preparation of this exploration and report.
