Description

The New Bedford Housing Authority invites sealed bids from contractors for the Brickenwood Window Replacement in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by Russo Barr Associates, Inc. The project consists of but not limited to complete removal & replacement of the existing aluminum windows, as indicated on the project drawings. Aluminum windows shall be replaced with new, energy efficient, vinyl window systems with low-e, insulated glass panels. Windows shall be double-hung configuration. All windows shall be equipped with window opening control devices complying with astm f 2090. The construction will be administered using paid for by the awarding authority or prime designer. Bids are subject to m.g.l. c.149 44a-j & to minimum wage rates as required by m.g.l. c.149 26 to 27h inclusive. Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed below & bidders must include a current DCAMM sub-bidder certificate of eligibility & a signed DCAMM sub-bidder's update statement in the trade of Painting. General bids & sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than 5% of the greatest possible bid amount (including all alternates) & made payable to the New Bedford Housing Authority. RFI 03/03/2023 at 5:00PM EST for general bids. The work contemplated by the Contract Documents includes the Work of all trades required and all labor, equipment, materials and supervision necessary and incidental to the Work indicated. The work of this contract includes selective demolition and renovations of existing construction. The following descriptions of the Work represent a brief summary of the Project. For additional and more complete information refer to the Project Manual and Drawings. The Drawings indicate and show limits of construction for this Project. The Drawings and Project Manual are complementary to each other and both shall be followed to complete the Work. B. The project scope consists of window replacement and associated work, at the Brickenwood Family Housing in New Bedford, MA. General Bidders are to be DCAMM certified in Doors & Windows. The General Contractor shall provide and maintain proper supervision of the labor force for project duration. The General Contractor shall provide, for project duration, a competent full-time, Project Superintendent who shall remain on site, full-time every workday. The Project Superintendent shall be responsible for providing full-time supervision of the labor force, including but not limited to his employees, his subcontractors, his material suppliers, and his equipment suppliers. His responsibilities shall also include general coordination and management of the job and his attendance is required at all project meetings. He shall not work as a foreman, mechanic, laborer, or tradesman, except with the written permission of the Designer. The Project Superintendent shall be a Licensed Construction Supervisor in the State of Massachusetts. General Bidders are to be DCAMM certified in Doors and Windows. The project scope consists of window replacement at the Brickenwood Family Housing in New Bedford, MA. The general scope of the construction work is as follows: Complete removal and replacement of the existing windows, as indicated on the project drawings. Windows shall be replaced with new, energy efficient, vinyl window systems with low-e, insulated glass panels. Windows shall be doublehung configuration. All windows shall be equipped with window opening control devices complying with ASTM F 2090. The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete removal and legal disposal of the existing window systems, including, sash, frame, blocking, trim and related hardware and all work required to carefully remove the noted components, as indicated on the drawings. Note: Contractor shall only remove the current windows, including frame and sash. The metal frame of the original metal windows that were original to the building, shall remain. Contractor shall coordinate all demolition work to provide a secure and weathertight building, until the new window systems have been installed.
