Description

As of 11/8/2021 project was not yet been awarded. No estimated time frame yet. RFI Deadline Date - 10/04/2021 2:00PM Only On-Call $100K-$500K Masonry Contractors are prequalified and may submit a Bid for this Project This project entails repairing the exterior masonry walls to make the building watertight, and includes repointing mortar, replacing broken granite; repairing, replacing and adding copper flashing; removing and replacing caulking; and other related items. The scope is broken into separate areas on each façade to limit the work to the available budget. Work required by the project shall commence immediately upon receipt of a Notice to Proceed. However physical work on site shall not take place between November 1, 2021 and April 1, 2022. Each Bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond in the form required and provided by University and having as surety thereto such surety company or companies as are authorized to do business in the State of Connecticut, and for an amount not less than 10 percent of the Total Bid Amount. A Bid Bond is only required for any Total Bid Amount over $50,000.00. A Total Bid Amount of $50,000.00 or less does not require a Bid Bond. Performance Bond (for Bids over $100,000.00): If the contract amount is at least $100,000.00, then prior to the execution of the contract, the successful Bidder shall submit an executed Performance Bond, prepared on the form of Performance Bond provided by the University, in the amount of 100 percent of the contract amount, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract, and having as surety hereto such Surety Company or Companies as are authorized to transact business in the State of Connecticut. Labor and Material Bond (for Bids over $100,000.00): If the contract amount is at least $100,000.00, then prior to the execution of the contract, the successful Bidder shall submit an executed Labor and Material Bond, prepared on the form of Labor and Material Bond provided by the University, in the amount of 100 percent of the contract amount, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the contract, and having as surety hereto such Surety Company or Companies as are authorized to transact business in the State of Connecticut. The University reserves the right to elect to implement some, all or none of the Alternates set forth in this Bid, as may be in the best interest of the University. To ensure that the integrity of the bidding process is maintained, the Total Bid Amount and any Alternates are read at the bid opening. After the bid opening and before the contract award, the lowest responsible Bidder is determined by adding together the Total Bid Amount plus any Alternates (additive or deductive) accepted by the University. Alternate prices are not negotiable since they are a component in determining the lowest responsible Bidder. The University expressly reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informalities, irregularities or technical defects in the Bids, if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the University provided the reasons for any such waiver are stated in writing by the University and made a part of the contract file.
