Description

The intent of these funds is to install 4,800 linear feet of new 12" water main on Douglas Pike, with connections to existing 8" mains along the way. This project will provide a new system loop, which will improve water quality, in addition to providing improved reliability to the customers. The current system configuration relies on a single 12" water main on Ridge Road. The addition of this loop will provide an alternative feed that can bypass the Ridge Road line, if there were a main break in that critical area. The proposed route for the alternative feed crosses the Wenscott Reservoir causeway, which will be difficult and expensive. Before moving forward with this project, it is recommended that an alternate route be explored. This project is in included in the Town of Smithfield FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 29, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
