Description | As of October 13, 2023, construction has not started. Project is scheduled to start construction next month. Some trade packages are still available to bid. The owner has selected a Design Builder. The Project approximately consists of: The project will construct new standalone laboratory/lecture/research building to be named the IVC Brawley Lithium Research Hub / STEM Building (Academic Building II #102) located on a vacant development site on the IVC Brawley master plan. This project will provide a 43,000 ASF/66,000 GSF STEM research and instructional facility. The project will include lower division teaching labs, upper division teaching labs interdisciplinary lecture, 45 faculty/administrative offices, research and research services space, conference rooms, mechanical, electrical and telecom support spaces. Existing STEM programs at the San Diego main campus are severely impacted, and this new facility will expand access to both STEM and Engineering degrees to more students in the Imperial Valley region. To this end the facility will include 20,000 ASF of labs, core facilities with major instruments, and experimental fabrication space for collaborative work with public and private partners. - This direct construction cost budget includes the following; escalation, design contingency, furniture, fixtures & equipment; wayfinding signage; audio visual equipment. - The contract duration for the Phase 2 agreement is approximately 613 calendar days. The budget and duration will be established in the RFP. - The contract specifies that liquidated damages are $5,500 for each calendar day construction completion is late. - The Design-Builder is required to be licensed in the state of California with a B - license and registered to bid public works with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). - The Design-Builder is required to be prequalified by the CSU Prequalification Program Administrator; refer to RFQ Section 4. |
