Description | This project would continue the renovation of the 153,827 gross square feet (GSF) Biological Sciences Building and Spencer Chemistry Building. The second phase will renovate approximately 75,000 GSF in both Spencer Chemistry and the Biological Sciences Building. This project will build upon the first phase, which is nearing completion and funded by the State with the Board of Public Buildings Bond as the primary funding source. The current phase is substantially complete as of August 2018. The Phase II renovation will address additional deferred maintenance, research space, teaching spaces, and other facility deficiencies that were beyond reach of the Phase I budget. The renovation will provide state of the art teaching laboratories and support spaces, while providing improved laboratory systems to support research activities, support student retention, meet current laboratory standards, and encourage student collaborative learning. As of January 26, 2023, this project is included in the University of Missouri System's 2023-2027 CIP. A program planning study has been completed. This project is in the conceptual phase and is on indefinite hold due to funding. An architect has not been selected. The project will not proceed until state funding is approved. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. |
