RFP - Historic Buildings Survey

The Village of Frankfort is requesting proposals from qualified architectural and preservation firms to conduct an architectural resources survey. The Frankfort Historic Preservation Commission has selected the area generally bound by U.S. Route 30/Lincoln Highway on the north, U.S. Route 45/La Grange Road and Old Frankfort Way/Smith Street/Maple Street on the west, White Street and Center Road on the east, and Utah Street/Sauk Trail on the south to conduct an Architectural Resources Survey project (Exhibit 1, Exhibit 2). In this approximate one quarter square mile area, approximately 213 buildings and structures are extant. However, it should be noted that there are also some newly constructed homes within the aforementioned Survey area. An Architectural Resources Survey was completed in 1996 for the area of the Village immediately in and around the downtown. It identified approximately 314 structures in the area bounded by McDonald Street on the north, Pacific Street on the south, Center Road on the east, and Locust Street on the west. The proposed Historic Buildings Survey is funded in part through a grant provided by the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Applicants are advised to be aware of the State's qualification and reporting requirements as well as the Village's executed grant agreement.
