Description

Nashville MTA and its 501-c3 employment arm, Davidson Transit Organization (DTO), are seeking a third-party administrator (TPA) to manage all claims incurred through workers’ comp for employees and third-party accident and liability claims. DTO currently has approximately 750 benefit eligible employee participants with approximately 550 of those being unionized maintenance workers and bus operators. The Nashville MTA revenue fleet is comprised of 260 buses and paratransit vans as well as approximately 60 administrative support vehicles. DTO’s Workers’ Comp and Nashville MTA’s liability and auto accident insurance programs are currently administered by a TPA who is responsible for all claims management, legal support, and claim payments. The Work Comp and Liability auto accident programs have separate company-controlled bank accounts from which the TPA issues claims checks on a periodic basis. The TPA works closely with Safety and Security Department employees for both workers’ comp claims and third -party liability and auto accident/physical damage claims. Currently, there is a monthly claims meeting convened by the insurance brokerage team that includes the current TPA and key internal company employees to discuss all new claims for the past month as well as the status of other outstanding open claims. The TPA may also call special meetings as needed for claims management strategy or settlement proposals and litigation.
