Description

Sole responsibility for proper delivery of bid is that of the bidder. Any offer received after closing time will be returned unopened. All bids must be accompanied by an original bid security equal to five (5%) of the total amount bid and must be in the form of a Certified Check, Cashier's Check, Bank Money Order or Bid Bond written by a company licensed to do business in the State of Louisiana. Award will not be made on the date of the bid opening, but will be awarded by the School Board at a later meeting. Subject to the provisions of R.S. 38:2211, et seq., the Rapides Parish School Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids for just cause. Each bidder, shall submit with their bid satisfactory evidence that they have complied with the requirements of the LA Contractor's Licensing Law, Louisiana R.S. 37:2150, et seq., and are fully qualified to enter into contract with the Rapides Parish School Board. Bid envelopes shall be marked "Replacement of Gym Floor at Plainview High - Bid # 23-01" and delivered to: Purchasing Department Rapides Parish School Board 619 Sixth Street Alexandria, Louisiana 71301 Provide Labor and Materials to the complete Replacement of the Gym Floor at Plainview High. Work Requirements: 1. The information and requirements shown on Improvements Drawing, Drawing A-1, dated 9/1/2022, are included herein by reference. 2. The information and requirements contained in Specifications Section 096466 - Wood Gymnasium Flooring are included herein by reference. 3. All parts of the BID package (including the drawing(s), specifications, and Work Requirements) are complementary. What is required by one part shall be as if required by all parts. 4. Remove the existing gym floor system down to the concrete slab. Dispose and/or recycle same in accordance with federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and statutes (e.g. spoilage becomes property and responsibility of contractors). Prep concrete as required by floor system manufacturer to receive new floor system. Provide new gym floor system as specified. 5. Basis of design: Safe 1 System by Horner Flooring, Dollar Bay, MI. a. Requests for approval of alternate manufacturers may be made through the RPSB Purchasing Department. 6. New gym floor system materials shall include: a. Pads supporting sleepers: Manufacturer's standard 7/16" pad. Spacing per manufacturer's system requirements. b. MFMA Northern hard maple flooring: 25/32" thick x 2 1/4 " wide; Second and Better grade. 7. After the new floor is installed, adjust the height of the existing goals to regulation height. 8. Verify existing conditions, layout, and dimensions prior to submitting a quote. Dimensions shown on drawings are approximate and must be field verified prior to submitting a bid. 9. Perform all work in compliance with all applicable local, state, and national codes and ordinances. 10. Installation of products and materials shall be per manufacturer's requirements and recommendations. 11. Provide all required permits. 12. Legally dispose of all trash, debris, and waste materials offsite. Clean the site and surrounding areas impacted by construction operations to pre-work conditions or better. 13. Include 1 year full contractor's warranty, as well as applicable manufacturer's warranties. 14. Provide all labor, materials, equipment, hardware, accessories, and incidentals as necessary for a complete and fully functional system. PART 1-GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION A. This document specifies a wood strip athletic floor system consisting, in general, of wood subflooring, maple flooring, vapor retarder, vertical restraints (system specific), sanding, sealers, finishes, game lines, and wall base. B. The concrete contractor shall provide a concrete slab, smooth troweled and level to a tolerance of 1/8" (3mm) in a 10'0" (3m) radius, subject to the approval of the wood flooring contractor. LABOR AND MATERIALS NECESSARY TO PUT THE CONCRETE SLAB IN ACCEPTABLE CONDITION (HIGH AREAS GROUND DOWN AND LOW AREAS FILLED WITH APPROVED LEVELING COMPOUNDS) SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONCRETE CONTRACTOR. 1. Concrete slab depression to use with 3/8" (10mm) Thrust-A-Cushion pads shall be: a. 2 5/8" (67mm) for 25/32" (20mm) thick flooring. 2. Concrete subfloors shall have an adequate vapor retarder beneath and at the perimeter of the slab. 3. No pea gravel, river gravel or slag aggregate shall be allowed in the concrete. The concrete strength range at the time of wood flooring installation shall be between 3,000 PSI and 3,500 PSI.
