Description | As of January 23, 2023, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. Town of North Brookfield, MA - North Brookfield Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades. The work of this Contract is located in the Town of North Brookfield, MA Contractor Qualification DCAMM Certificate Additional Information Prequalified bids only. American Iron and Steel Certification Required. Sub Bid Category Miscellaneous Metals, Thermal and Moisture Protection, Ceramic Tile, Painting, Plumbing, Electrical Work, and HVAC The upgrade of the existing wastewater treatment plant including construction of a new Administration and Lab Building; new 50,000 gallon septage storage, pumping, and automated receiving equipment; renovation of the headworks, including mechanical screen, grit handling, and ventilation; reconfiguration of the aeration basins to include anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic zones; replacement of aeration blowers and sludge pumps; construction of new cloth media filters for phosphorus removal; replacement of secondary clarifier mechanical equipment and concrete rehabilitation; upgrade of ultraviolet disinfection equipment; and providing flow paced chemical feed systems. Owner anticipates that the Project's total bid price will be approximately $17,800,000. The Project has an expected duration of 640 days The Work shall include all permitting, demolition, construction, surface preparation, testing, temporary protection and shoring, phasing, placement and maintenance of barriers, labor, equipment, materials and accessories necessary to perform all Work associated with the upgrades to the North Brookfield Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, in accordance with the Contract Documents. In general, the Work includes, but isnot limited to, the following: 1. Addition of septage receiving screening equipment, housed within a new building. 2. Expansion of septage receiving storage and pumping capacity 3. Replacement of grit and screening equipment in the headworks building. 4. Modification of the four (4) existing aeration basins, currently operated in a completely mixed scenario, into two (2) trains of plug-flow, anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic zones of operation. 5. Replacement of three (3) aeration blowers with new rotary lobe blowers as well as addition of compressed air system for mixing in anaerobic and anoxic zones. 6. Replacement of the mechanisms in the secondary clarifiers. 7. Replacement of RAS/WAS pumps. And ancillary piping and valving. 8. Perform concrete surface repair at existing secondary clarifiers including, but not limited to: a. Removal of all deteriorated, spalled, delaminated, punky, soft, etc. concrete via hydrodemolition methods. b. Prepare concrete surfaces for installation of repair materials/mortars. c. Repair cracked concrete via rout and seal and/or pressure injection application where indicated on the Contract Drawings. d. Perform mechanical surface cleaning followed by two (2) passes (minimum) of shot-blasting to achieve ICRI-CSP 5. e. Apply protective coating on concrete surfaces as specified in the Contract Drawings. 9. The installation of a new cloth media filter, in concrete tanks, for the tertiary treatment to achieve more effective phosphorus removal. 10. Construction of new greenhouse structure at flocculation, cloth media and UV structures; Contractor delegated design for structural framing and building components. 11. Replacement of the UV equipment in the existing channels and addition of submersible plant water transfer pump at post-aeration basin. 12. Construction of submersible, free standing tank drain pump station and valve vault. 13. Conversion of an existing plant water tank into additional solids holding and plant water storage. 14. Replacement of plant water pumping skid in Operations Building along with ancillary piping. 15. Rehabilitation of the biofilter through demolition and disposal of old media, piping and underlay material and replacement in-kind of the same. 16. Construction of a new administration building; Contractor delegated design for structural framing and building components. 17. Upgrade of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as needed to support process and administration building upgrades. 18. Selective demolition of within several process are to make way for replacement or new equipment, piping, etc. 19. Integration of a new SCADA system for process monitoring and control. 20. Supply all necessary chutes, disposal facilities, transportation and labor necessary to dispose of all demolished materials and debris off-site in a legal dumping area. The Contractor shall obtain all permits necessary to transport and dispose of all materials, rubbish and debris affected by their scope of work. 21. Provide temporary fencing and erosion control around set-up and storage locations. Set-up and lay down areas should be sufficient for all subtrades to have adequate area to store materials and equipment. Set-up and lay down areas shall be within areas designated by the Owner. 22. Complete all associated work in accordance with the Project Specifications and Contract Drawings. 23. Protect existing embedded items located in structural concrete components including, but not limited to, electrical, plumbing, reinforcing steel, etc. 24. Complete all associated work in accordance with the Project Specifications and Contract Drawings. 25. Clean and restore all areas affected by the Work. 26. The Contractor shall provide all lifts, cranes, and equipment necessary to perform the Work. 27. Coordinate the Work with that of the Owner. 28. Perform all other miscellaneous work as required to complete the Project in its entirety.
