Description

Truman State University (Truman) is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to repair the Barnett Hall water main line located on its campus in Kirksville, Missouri The contractor will be required to adhere to the following minimum project requirements: 1. Contractor will saw cut approximately 300 linear feet of eight inch (8") concrete in the Barnett Hall parking lot. 2. Contractor will remove and re-locate concrete to a nearby Truman refuse site. 3. Contractor will furnish and install approximately 350 linear feet of six inch (6") C900 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) underground water main, with one (1) six inch (6") gate valve to replace an existing valve. 4. Contractor will connect the new six inch (6") replacement PVC underground water main to the existing six inch (6") ductile iron pipe that is stubbed outside of Barnett Hall. 5. Contractor will excavate around an existing three inch (3") copper inflow line. 6. Contractor will furnish, fabricate and install 70 linear feet of three inch (3") copper water line from the interior hallway to the classroom where an existing water main enters. 3 7. Contractor will furnish and install two (2) three inch (3") butterfly valves to make a connection allowing Truman to isolate the East or West wings of the building without shutting down the water to the entire structure. 8. Contractor will install one (1) three inch (3") water meter and two (2) two inch (2") backflow preventers. Truman will supply the water meter and the backflow preventers. 9. Contractor will install all interior plumbing above ceilings whenever possible. 10. Contractor will insulate new copper water line with one inch (1") thick Armaflex foam rubber or a Truman approved alternative. 11. Contractor will drain the existing water line and connect the newly installed six inch (6") PVC outside water line and the three inch (3") copper inside water line. 12. Contractors will connect new three inch (3") copper supply line to the existing three inch (3") interior plumbing line located in the mechanical room. 13. Contractor will backfill excavation site and/or trench with one inch (1") clean stone and dirt. Stone and dirt will be provided by Truman. 14. Contractor will test backflow preventers and provide results to Truman and the City of Kirksville. 15. Contractor will install plastic covering on carpet inside building to protect building interior finishes. 16. The selected contractor will confine their labor force, equipment and supplies to such areas and within limits as to cause the least inconvenience to Truman.
