Description

Phase 1 approximate construction value of $18-$22 million Phase 2 approximate construction value of $36-$40 million Hewitt Hall was completed in 1967 as the Student Union building. It has two (2) floors above grade and one (1) floor below grade for a total of 135,010 Gross Square Feet. The project scope of work is a gut renovation of the entire building including abatement, demolition, replacement of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems. The building envelope will need to be addressed to provide energy improvements. It is intended that the entire project will be upgraded as part of the Fund's deep energy retrofit initiative per SUCF Program Directive Directive 1B-2, including a new geothermal well field, new windows, new roof and added insulation to the envelope. Some site work adjacent to the building is also included. The completed building will serve the School of Communication Media and the Arts (SCMA). Programmatic uses for the building include classrooms, offices, a cafe, broadcasting studios and media arts studios. The building will also contain a ballroom that will double as a recital hall for the music program and include back of house support spaces for functions and recitals. It is planned that the project will be constructed in two phases with a set scope of work to be completed in an 18 month duration for Phase 1 (approximate project value $18-22 Million) and a set scope of work to be completed in 30 months for Phase 2 (approximate project value $36-40 Million). Submissions should emphasize the firm's significant past experience in providing construction phase CM services for public institutions and institutional clients in a complete and expeditious manner.
