Description The project will replace existing culverts that have exceeded their life expectancy and capacity increases are required to prevent roadway overtopping. The project will replace the culverts with a double 5'x10' box culvert. The contractor shall obtain signed and sealed structural plans for the box culverts. The box culverts shall have a minimum combined opening width along Highway 2A of 20 feet and height of 5 feet. The box culvert supplier shall provide load rating documentation signed and sealed by a Florida Professional Engineer to Walton County. The roadway profile in the area will be raised to accommodate the new box culverts and prevent future overtopping of the roadway. The project includes clearing and grubbing and including concrete removal, milling and resurfacing, embankment construction, stabilization, asphalt placement, miscellaneous asphalt and guardrail placement, rip-rap installation, pavement marking placement, sod installation and other miscellaneous items. The project will require dewatering and temporary drainage pipe and manhole installation to divert the water while the box culverts are being constructed. The prospective contractor should review the geotechnical report and Tensar document for soil stabilization requirements under the box culvert. The contractor is cautioned that existing utilities are present in the project area and should not be disturbed. The roadway will be allowed to be closed during construction and a detour set up by the contractor as per the contract plans
