Clearing of Snow from Sidewalks, Crosswalks, and Bus Stops

Clearing of snow and ice on city sidewalks, crosswalks, and bus stops in designated areas throughout the City of Sun Prairie. The expectation is all sidewalks, crosswalks, and bus stops will be free and clear of any snow and ice that may have accumulated on the surfaces that could cause a slip and fall hazard. The process and equipment used for the removal of the snow should leave bare pavement but not cause damage to the surface. The removal and treatment of excessive ice shall be accomplished by the use of an ice melting agent such as rock salt or a chloride type product that is safe on all surfaces it will be applied to. The contractor is expected to clear the snow and excessive ice from the specified surfaces within 24 hours of the snow or ice event. This contract will be for three snow seasons starting with the 2022-2023 snow season and ending April 1, 2025, with the option to extend for another 3 years with mutual agreement on terms and cost. No bid shall be considered unless accompanied by a certified or cashiers check or bid bond equal to 10% of the bid amount payable to the City of Sun Prairie as a guarantee that if their bid is accepted, the bidder will execute and file a Contract within ten (10) days after such acceptance. The accepted bidder will execute and file the Agreement and the Performance and Payment Bonds in the amount equal to 100% of the bid amount within ten (10) days of Notice of Award. All applicable charter and statutory provisions are incorporated into said Contract. The successful bidder shall be required to conform to all Federal and State OSHA requirements, as well as to the extent necessary, to comply with David-Bacon and/or Wisconsin Prevailing Wage Laws. The City of Sun Prairie reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding process. Bids may be held by the City of Sun Prairie for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of the bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract.
