Description

As of April 6, 2022, the project is in schematic design. An architect has been selected. A general contractor will be selected by public bid. No timeline for construction has been determined. It has not been determined if the station will have four truck bays or five. The station is anticipated to be 125 feet wide and 100 feet long. Closed solicitation has been included below. The Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), located in Ridgeley, West Virginia is seeking Statements of Qualifications from qualified architectural consulting firms detailing the firm's qualifications, technical expertise, management and staffing capabilities, references, and related prior experience to provide design and construction administration services for a new fire station for the Ridgeley VFD. Professional services may include, but are not limited to preparation of construction plans and specifications including architectural and interior design; structural design; mechanical and electrical design, and site design including civil engineering and landscape architecture. Bidding and contracting services, construction administration services, construction observation services, and geotechnical engineering services will also be provided by the successful firm. Procurement of said services will be in accordance with WV Code 5G-1-3. The goal of the competitive process is to objectively select the firm who will provide the highest quality service. Accordingly, technical expertise and related prior experience will be weighed heavily. The Ridgeley VFD shall evaluate the Statements of Qualifications submitted by interested firms, and select a minimum of three firms, which, in their opinion, are best qualified to perform the desired services. Interviews with each firm selected shall be conducted, which may include discussions regarding anticipated concepts and proposed methods of approach. After the interviews, the VFD shall again rank, in order of preference, the professional firms and shall commence scope of services and price negotiations with the highest qualified professional firm to provide the services. Questions concerning the project should be directed to station25construction@gmail.comor by calling Chief Steve Shipley at (240) 609-7708 or Deputy Chief Rodney Twyman at (304) 209-1166. Attention is directed to the fact that the proposed project may be undertaken with state and/or federal funds and that all work will be performed in accordance with the regulations issued by such agencies and the State of West Virginia pertaining thereto. The Ridgeley VFD shall ensure, to the fullest extent possible, that positive efforts are made to utilize small businesses, including those in rural areas, minority-owned firms, and women-owned business enterprises. The Ridgeley VFD will afford full opportunity to women-owned and minority business enterprises to submit a show of interest in response to this request and will not discriminate against any interested firm or individual on the grounds of race, creed, color, sex, age, handicap or national origin in the award of this contract. Method of Contractor selection has not been determined at this point of time. At this time, there are no bid documents. They are only accepting qualification packets from architects.
