Description | Both East Harmony Road and 1st Street are designated as arterials in Severance: Hometown Vision Comprehensive Plan (2011). Each corridor contains physical characteristics that vary which will include the following: 1. Right-of-way widths 2. Traffic volumes 3. Vehicle Speed 4. Street improvements 5. Block and parcel sizes Both Corridors focus on vehicle travel without other consideration. Minimal landscaping along roadway edges paired with limited to no provisions for pedestrian or bicycle access dominate each corridor. As these each of these corridors serve as connections between neighboring communities as well as gateway/entryways to the Town of Severance, the Town looks to implement standards that will allow for an appealing aesthetic for residents, visitors, and merchants. In order to address the issues identified the Town of Severance is looking to develop a corridor plan with an emphasis on development and redevelopment. The Town is currently working on a new Comprehensive Plan, Land Use Code changes, as well as a Transportation Master Plan. This corridor plan will recommend standards and criteria by which development and redevelopment of existing properties can proceed and the community identity of the Town can be enhanced. |
