Description | All work described herein shall be performed in fullest compliance with Construction Standard policy of Selfridge ANGB Design Compatibility Guidelines, comply with base standards, latest OHSA, IES, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 780, NEMA, IEEE, UL 96, UL 96A, UL 467, and all local rules and regulations for the design and other guidance stated in the following scope of work. Construction shall be conducted in a quality workmanlike manner. Completed work shall exhibit superior quality for completed work. The Contractor shall obtain A Miss dig ticket and coordinate with Base CE Operations, Work control, to establish a Base dig permit for all underground work including but not limited to installation of new steel masts, new copper ground rods, and new copper ground conductors. The Contractor shall ensure that all excavated/work areas are barricaded. The Contractor shall ensure that all work is in compliance with applicable OHSA 1926 Construction Standards. Contractor shall take all precaution not to disturb any underground utilities including gas, electric, Comm., telephone, cable, water and sewer. All lightning protection work shall be done by licensed lightning protection contractor and certified testing to less than 1 ohm resistance, certified by a 3rd party Inspector. Poles and base shall be constructed to meet a minimum 125 MPH wind rating. To protect workers, contractor work areas shall be isolated and access by Air Force personnel restricted, unless working in conjunction with the contractor. If this is impractical or cannot be accomplished, the onsite supervisor shall assure the contractor‘s compliance with proper work procedures, energy isolation procedures and contractor employee compliance per AFMAN 91-203, para 21.8.3. When contractor personnel are engaged in activities covered by this instruction (AFMAN 91-203), the on-site supervisor and contractor shall inform each other of their respective lockout/tag out procedures. The on-site supervisor shall ensure his/her personnel understand and comply with the contractor‘s energy control procedures. Air Force and contractor personnel conducting joint lockout/ tag out operations shall use requirements in this standard AFMAN 91-203, para 21.8.1. The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to allow the use of a contractor and a licensed lightning protection contractor to perform the installation of lightning protection system to protect all new munitions equipment from the lightning strikes for the entire MAC pad area. The facility shall remain functional during this project. The Contractor shall obtain field dimensions, equipment materials cost to provide the Government with a complete Cost proposal to perform the required installation. This shall include installation, of new steel masts that can meet the rolling sphere theory, ¾”x10’-0” new copper ground rods, (exothermal welded) , new #4/0 copper ground conductor, catenary conductor and all material required for the installation of lightning protection system. |
