Description

The existing Market Street Bridge over the Santa Ana River is an important transportation link between the Cities of Riverside and Jurupa Valley. This 12-span steel plate girder bridge is 1,195 feet long and was constructed in 1953. It will be replaced with a new 4 lane bridge including standard shoulders and a dedicated multi-purpose pedestrian lane. The County of Riverside is taking the lead on this project and the City of Riverside will only be responsible to provide its fair share contribution to Riverside County in order to satisfy the local match requirements. Project is included in the City of Riverside's FY 2022-2024 CIP. As of July 1, 2022, this project is being handled by the Riverside County Transportation Department. A design team has been identified. Final design is anticipated in August 2022. Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2023 and be completed by March 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
