Description

Successful bidder shall perform an inspection of piping and branch line conditions to be conducted every five years by opening a flushing connection at the end of one main and by removing a sprinkler toward the end of one branch line for the purpose of inspecting for the presence of foreign organic and inorganic material. Also, level indicators shall be tested for accuracy and freedom of movement for the well at Citronelle High School. Inspection reports are on a CD and available for pick up in the Purchasing Department, Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm. The inspection reports are to be used as a guide for bidders when bidding this project. This service is to be provided during normal working hours of Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm excluding holidays. All services described shall be completed in accordance with the Alabama State Fire Code 1999 which includes the following entitlement: NFPA 25, latest edition which has been adopted by the City of Mobile. The five year fire sprinkler obstruction inspection is to fully comply with the NFPA 25, latest edition requirements. After the initial internal inspection, any facility’s fire sprinkler system that is found to have tubercules or slime, shall be identified and a detail listing furnished. This list shall then be given to the Maintenance Coordinator. In the event that estimated repairs are to exceed $250.00, the repair costs will be reviewed and subject to a separate bid for repairs. No repairs are to be made without prior approval from the Maintenance Coordinator. This listing must be a printed document (not hand written), and given to the Maintenance Department for bid submittal on repairs. We have a total of 80 sites, as an option we may choose to split the inspections into two phases, depending on the total cost of all the inspections. If the bid is split, half of the locations may be inspected after the bid is Board approved. Then the remainder will be inspected after additional funding is secured. It will then be the decision of the Maintenance Coordinator and the awarded vendor to decide which locations will be inspected in the first phase.
